Aalborg Zoo - Customer Case Study

Aalborg Zoo needed to relocate Milak, a six-year-old polar bear, from Denmark to Zoo sauvage de St-Félicien in Canada as part of its species preservation programme. The challenge was to transport a large, awake, and easily agitated animal safely across multiple stages and international borders, which required specialized logistics support from DSV.

DSV managed the full transport journey, moving Milak from Aalborg Zoo to Amsterdam, then by cargo plane to Montreal, and finally by truck to her new home in Canada. DSV also adapted the custom metal transport cage when it was too tall for the airplane hatch, ensuring the bear’s safe transfer; Milak arrived safely and her new zoo family welcomed her, with Aalborg Zoo praising DSV’s attention to detail and excellent service.
