Indiana University Finds Their Dryv for Cost Savings & Platform Flexibility

Indiana University, a large public research university, needed to migrate 140,000 users and nearly 3PB of data from Box to Microsoft OneDrive and Google Drive after their storage costs rose significantly. They faced challenges with platform incompatibilities, user permission mapping, and a strict timeline to complete the move during the summer break with minimal disruption. The university sought a strong, fast migration solution and was connected to the vendor DryvIQ.

DryvIQ provided a flexible migration solution that successfully transferred the massive amount of data, including complex elements like Box Notes and user permissions. This allowed Indiana University to minimize user disruption by keeping Box accessible in a read-only state during the transition. The project was completed on schedule and achieved its primary goal of cost savings, with the university stating that the migration with DryvIQ cost considerably less than their original cloud storage subscription.
