A Druva Case Study
Umbra Cuscinetti and Linear Motion, US subsidiaries of UMBRAGROUP with sites in Everett, WA and Saginaw, MI, support aerospace and industrial customers and must retain large CAD files for 10+ years to meet DoD requirements. Their legacy Veritas Backup Exec process—manual backups of 40–60 VMs and physical servers to tape and disk—caused jammed tapes, failed backups, no centralized visibility, and diverted IT resources needed for a concurrent ERP migration.
They replaced Veritas with Druva Phoenix’s cloud-native data protection, providing a single pane of glass, multiple restore options, long-term archiving, and compliance with NIST 800-171/DFARS/ITAR. The move delivered 3x deduplication savings (5.33 TB used for 16 TB of data), 100% backup visibility and ransomware protection, and an ~85% reduction in weekly backup management time (from ~2 hours to ~15 minutes), freeing the team to focus on the ERP rollout.
