Case Study: Cabot Microelectronics achieves centralized backup control and fast data recovery with Druva inSync

A Druva Case Study

Preview of the Cabot Microelectronics Case Study

Streamlining IT’s efforts to manage and control data backup and restores

Cabot Corporation, a Boston-based specialty chemicals and performance materials company with about 4,600 employees across 40 sites in 20+ countries, faced fragmented endpoint protection and limited visibility into backups. Their previous backup solution lacked enterprise monitoring and allowed users to alter settings, resulting in inconsistent or missed backups across roughly 2,010 laptops and tablets and creating significant operational risk for IT.

Cabot deployed Druva inSync on-premise (Backup & Restore, Governance, DLP, and FileShare) to centralize control, monitoring and deduplication. The solution prevented user tampering, enabled monthly remediation reporting, replaced ad-hoc file-sharing, and gave employees mobile access to files. When a bad IE patch destroyed 26 laptops, inSync’s backups allowed full data recovery—demonstrating improved visibility, faster backups, and reliable restore capability.
