State of California protects VMware Cloud, Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, and on-premises data

The State of California Governor’s Office needed to modernize IT to support a highly mobile, cloud-first workforce. Its seven-person team moved to VMware Cloud (VMC) on Dell EMC and adopted SaaS like Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace, but legacy backup tools weren’t cloud-ready or certified for VMC, leaving VM and SaaS data protection, agility, and budget alignment at risk.

The office adopted the Druva Cloud Platform—a VMware-ready, cloud-native backup-as-a-service that provides a single pane of glass for VMware VMs and SaaS data, elastic scale with no hardware, and integrations for eDiscovery and security. The move delivered a 10.5× reduction in backup storage via global deduplication, a 50–75% reduction in time spent managing backups, faster restores (M365 recoveries in hours), eliminated hardware maintenance, and rapid support and deployment in weeks.
