BigHand, a UK‑headquartered provider of digital dictation, task management and process optimization serving 2,500+ client organizations, was constrained by a legacy tape backup system. With global offices, strict security requirements and tight recovery windows, the IT team needed an online backup solution that reduced recovery time, was easy to manage, encrypted data end‑to‑end, and minimized impact on network traffic.

Working with reseller AVR, BigHand implemented Druva Phoenix to centralize cloud backups for servers and VMs. Phoenix’s source‑side deduplication, centralized management and strong reporting let BigHand decommission tape, reduce storage footprint by about 2.5x, lower bandwidth use, speed up restores (including to alternate locations) and free up staff time — delivering faster, more secure and more reliable data protection.
