Rainforest Alliance - Customer Case Study

Rainforest Alliance engaged with Drupal to rebuild its public site to better surface and manage a large repository of structured content. The organization needed automated, metadata-driven related-content discovery, reusable media with multiple display modes, and the ability to introduce advanced permissioning and publishing workflows in the future. Drupal 8 was chosen for its structured-data capabilities and extensibility, along with integration with Apache Solr for search and content relation features.

Using Drupal 8, the team implemented Page Manager/layouts, Search API Solr (including Solr “more like this” for related content), Media and entity tools (Entity Embed, Entity Browser, Inline Entity Form), and Features/Panelizer for configuration and layout control. The project met a four-month timeline despite 100+ pages, dozens of epics and hundreds of user stories; by Sprint 6 there were zero critical and only three moderate issues, and the launch required only three support questions. The Drupal solution improved content discoverability and editorial workflows, launched in time for Rainforest Alliance’s year‑end campaign, and generated strong internal and external praise.
