American Medical Association boosts engagement 2.8x with Drupal

The American Medical Association (AMA) faced the challenge of aggregating disparate thematic content from across its various digital properties into a single, focused source. Their goal was to create flexible "hub" pages to better serve physicians, residents, students, and patients. To achieve this, the AMA partnered with vendor Drupal and Palantir.net to build an editor-friendly CMS solution on the Drupal 8 platform.

The solution implemented by Drupal utilized custom blocks, entity references, and the Panels module to provide content editors with a true WYSIWYG experience for building flexible layouts. The project resulted in rave internal reviews, with the AMA's Chief Experience Officer calling the new pages "the best AMA has ever put on the web." The results were measurable: visitors spent 2x more time on the site, viewed 2.8x more pages, were 20% more likely to begin a membership application, and had a bounce rate that was 2x smaller.
