Milner improves research results with DrugBank

The Han group at the Milner Therapeutics Institute, a research institute based at the University of Cambridge, faced the challenge of sourcing extremely detailed, high-quality data for their machine learning research into diseases like COVID-19. Without accurate data to train their algorithms for drug repurposing, their results lacked validity. They needed a trusted data source to assess the risk and efficacy of 200 identified drug candidates.

DrugBank provided the solution with its high-quality academic datasets, including drug-drug interactions and clinical trials data. Using DrugBank's reliable information, the Milner team was able to identify that 40 of the 200 drugs were already in clinical trials and ultimately narrow their findings to two promising candidates, significantly increasing their confidence in their research results.
