A Dropcountr Case Study
The City of Folsom, a utility serving 22,000 residential accounts, wanted to improve water conservation and encourage customers to reduce usage without relying on price increases. It worked with Dropcountr, a social norms-based conservation platform, to give households personalized water usage information, peer comparisons, pricing details, rebates, and conservation tips through mobile and web channels.
Dropcountr delivered the engagement program through native iOS and Android apps, helping Folsom reach customers where they were most active. In a 44-month analysis, the program produced a 6% average reduction in household water use and a 12% reduction among high-usage households, with average savings of 1,479 gallons per month and 9,522 gallons per month for the highest-use homes.
