A Dropbox Case Study
Dropbox partnered with the 2018 Sundance Film Festival to help independent filmmakers and the Sundance Institute overcome the logistical hurdles of filmmaking: dispersed teams, tight budgets and deadlines, and a massive submission process (more than 12,000 entries vying for roughly 200 slots). The company’s goal was to keep creative energy flowing so teams could focus on storytelling rather than file wrangling.
Using Dropbox to collect large submissions, distribute the right files to reviewers, and keep notes and feedback in sync, filmmakers and the Institute streamlined collaboration with shared folders and simple link-based sharing. The result: 62% of festival films relied on Dropbox, the selection workflow ran more smoothly, and teams gained time back to focus on creativity—supported further by event partnerships with Slate and IndieWire.
