University of Manchester deploys Dropbox Business

The University of Manchester, one of the UK’s largest and most progressive educational institutions, needed to replace ad hoc commercial file storage and meet a new Secure External Collaboration requirement under its Cyber Security Programme supporting the "Manchester 2020" strategy. With international research partners across Sao Paulo, Dubai, Shanghai, Singapore and Hong Kong, the university required an easy-to-use, secure and compliant platform for sharing documentation and large experimental datasets.

IT Services deployed Dropbox Business across staff as a large-scale solution, delivering a full suite of collaboration tools that enabled secure, uninterrupted sharing and collaboration with students, staff and global partners. The rollout improved the performance, robustness and resilience of university IT systems while supporting research and teaching activities—aligning with the university’s goal to be at the forefront of educational technology.
