A Dropbox Case Study
The Sundance Film Festival, which screens thousands of submissions each year to select the best independent films, struggled with an outdated workflow that relied on DVDs, thumb drives, and emailed spreadsheets. Processing 12,600 entries created version-control headaches, insecure delivery of unreleased films, and time-consuming logistics—leading programmers to temporarily use personal Dropbox accounts to get work done.
Adopting Dropbox Business gave the Festival shared folders, Vimeo integration, file requests, real-time spreadsheet updates, and granular permission controls, so programmers could preview large (2–4 GB) files, collect clips from filmmakers, and share media kits with the press securely. The result was faster, more reliable handling of submissions, tighter security over unreleased work, improved collaboration with filmmakers and media, and more time for staff to focus on programming the Festival.
