A Dropbox Case Study
Gladstone Institutes is a San Francisco–based biomedical research organization that brings chemists, biologists, engineers, and statisticians together to tackle diseases like Alzheimer’s, HIV/AIDS, and heart disease. Despite major scientific successes, collaboration was hampered by basic IT limits: high‑resolution microscopy images, 3D models, and large datasets were too big for email, forcing researchers to rely on couriered hard drives and personal cloud accounts.
Gladstone deployed Dropbox to give scientists a familiar, secure way to share massive files and coauthor grant documents, enabling real‑time feedback across labs and with external partners. The result was faster, more efficient collaboration—quicker experimental review, streamlined grant writing, and reduced dependency on physical transfers—helping the institute accelerate research toward new treatments.
