A Dropbox Case Study
The University of Florida, a land‑grant institution with cooperative extension centers in all 67 counties and 102 facilities statewide, faced a major collaboration and security challenge: staff and researchers spread across campuses were using personal tools to share work, creating inconsistent processes and data risks. IT needed a way to standardize collaboration while preserving existing user workflows.
UF adopted a university-wide Dropbox deployment for more than 5,000 users, giving researchers a secure, HIPAA-compliant space for grants and cross‑border collaboration (including streaming large video files for partners with poor connections). The rollout reduced email back-and-forth and miscommunication, simplified folder management, cut training and support needs, and earned strong positive feedback from staff and IT.
