How Vote.org Used HelloSign to Eliminate Paperwork for Absentee Voters

Vote.org is a nonprofit that uses technology to remove barriers to voting, but many states still required absentee voters to print, sign, mail or fax paper forms—an increasingly untenable process as fewer people have home printers. Facing strict election timelines and a need for an easy, secure online workflow, Vote.org looked for a partner that could embed e-signing, handle unique signature requirements, and deliver a fast, low-friction solution.

By integrating HelloSign and HelloFax APIs, Vote.org embedded a pre-filled absentee ballot application on their site, let voters upload a photo of their handwritten signature, and automatically faxed completed forms to local election offices. The implementation went live across multiple states, eliminated printing and scanning for absentee voters, provided downloadable confirmations by email, and improved accessibility and completion rates—benefiting voters, Vote.org, and election offices alike.
