How Turner Construction Uses Ground Robots to Cut Inspection Time by Over 95%

Turner Construction, a leading U.S. builder of large-scale data centers, wanted a better way to capture progress on complex jobsites, improve autonomous navigation for its Boston Dynamics Spot robot, and integrate inspections with its existing documentation tools. The company was already using DroneDeploy for aerial scans and needed a more efficient way to perform daily reality capture and 360° walkthroughs across its projects.

Using DroneDeploy’s Robotics solution with Spot and an Insta360 camera, Turner automated overnight inspections, synced data to DroneDeploy and StructionSite, and compared captured images against BIM and floor plans to spot issues early. DroneDeploy helped Turner save four to five labor hours per 15-minute mission and cut inspection time by over 95%, while also reducing rework and enabling fuller site reality capture.
