Drones Simplify Early Detection of Pipeline Leaks

Trinity Services and Consulting (TSC) worked with DroneDeploy to modernize pipeline inspections for a large oil and gas client managing 180 miles of produced-water pipelines in northern Oklahoma. Their challenge was finding saltwater leaks early, since these leaks can destroy crops, damage farmland, and lead to extremely expensive cleanup efforts.

Using DroneDeploy’s Linear Flight Plan app and DroneDeploy’s cloud processing, TSC flew DJI Phantom 4 Pro drones, captured more than 50,000 photos, and created vegetation health maps to spot areas of concern. DroneDeploy helped TSC identify about 90 regions of interest, reduce flight time by 30%, and support proactive monitoring that could cut cleanup costs by up to 90% while protecting farmland and enabling faster leak detection.
