DB Cargo, Europe’s leading rail freight company, needed a way to manage rapidly growing data volumes after its four large data warehouses hit capacity and performance slowed. In its Data-as-a-Service initiative, DB Cargo turned to Dremio to provide fast, flexible access to data across AWS cloud storage and multiple source systems.

With Dremio’s lakehouse platform, semantic layer, native connectors, and Reflections, DB Cargo separated storage from compute, reduced load on production systems, and made data available directly in users’ tools. The result was faster access to historic and current data, near-real-time analytics for transportation planning, improved decision-making, and stronger productivity for more than 300 active users, with 1 petabyte of data now in the data lake.
