DATEV Software Improves Product Development Using Dremio for Self-Service Access to Software Usage Data

DATEV, a German software company serving tax consultants, lawyers, and accounting offices, wanted to give product managers fast self-service access to client software usage data so they could improve product quality and the customer experience. As usage data grew 10x to 300 million records per day and demand from employees increased 4x, DATEV’s data team struggled to keep up, with custom requests taking about two weeks and limited historical analysis available.

Using Dremio, DATEV connected its on-premises Cloudera data lake, Hive tables, and CSV files to a browser-based semantic layer for self-service analytics, SQL queries, and Tableau/Excel reporting, while adding data reflections for performance. With Dremio, DATEV cut custom query turnaround from two weeks to 1–2 days, enabled analysts to work with two years of history instead of just 30 days, and empowered business users to make better, data-driven product decisions.
