ABC Supply delivers self-service analytics using Dremio to organize domain data and accelerate development

ABC Supply Co., Inc., the largest wholesale distributor of roofing materials in North America, faced major scalability and performance issues in its data environment. Direct connections between Tableau and Snowflake were slow and unreliable, causing timeouts, lost connections, and frequent failures with large extracts, while a lack of consistent, metadata-driven pipeline management created bottlenecks and heavy dependence on the data engineering team. With Dremio, ABC Supply connected Tableau through Dremio instead of directly to Snowflake, which improved performance and eliminated slowness and timeout issues. Dremio also helped the company organize domain data, create a centralized repository for shareable code, and build a metadata-driven process for enterprise data sets. As a result, ABC Supply optimized Snowflake cost and workload, accelerated dashboard development, and enabled business users to explore data more independently through Dremio’s Semantic Layer, strengthening governance and self-service analytics.
