A DraftSight Case Study
Innovative Manufacturing Services (IMS), a supplier of conveyor, material handling, and automation systems, needed a more efficient, cost-effective 2D design solution to develop electrical schematics and open a large library of legacy AutoCAD DWG files while using SOLIDWORKS for 3D. IMS evaluated and adopted DraftSight Professional from DraftSight to replace AutoCAD for routine 2D work and legacy file access.
IMS deployed nine DraftSight Professional licenses, integrating DraftSight with its SOLIDWORKS workflow to enable DWG compatibility, access to the Toolbox library, continued use of LISP automation routines, and CNC mill driving. DraftSight delivered faster development of electrical schematics and 2D layouts, lower per-seat costs versus maintaining AutoCAD, preserved legacy data access, and helped attract SOLIDWORKS-trained talent.
