Improving Material Handling Machinery Development with DraftSight Enterprise

The Young Industries, Inc., a long-established maker of custom bulk material‑handling equipment, needed to optimize how it used 2D and 3D design tools to boost productivity and speed development of custom systems. Although the company had a SOLIDWORKS 3D platform, legacy 2D workflows (previously run on MountainTop) suffered hardware and software failures and slowed tasks like modifying old drawings, creating simple layouts, and producing P&IDs. To address this gap the company evaluated options and selected DraftSight, deploying the DraftSight Enterprise 2D design solution.

By adding DraftSight Enterprise and integrating it with their SOLIDWORKS PDM system, The Young Industries, Inc. accelerated drawing, layout, and P&ID development, streamlined management of 2D legacy data and libraries, and eliminated prior software/hardware issues. Measurable benefits include reducing small drawing edits from days to about 15 minutes, cutting training time to a day or two instead of weeks, and faster proposal development — all achieved through the DraftSight implementation.
