Case Study: Owens-Illinois achieves higher uptime and fewer emergency breakdowns with DPSI’s PMC and MT-Track

Owens-Illinois (O-I), a global manufacturing leader in glass packaging, needed a best-practice CMMS that would capture complete equipment history and deliver accurate data for planning preventive and predictive maintenance. The Plastic Closure Division already used DPSI’s PMC but wanted a streamlined, easier-to-use add-on to encourage technician adoption, track parts usage, and generate shift and daily reports that tied comments to work orders and could be distributed by email.

The team developed MT-Track, a Microsoft Access add-on to PMC that simplifies data entry with pull-down menus, tracks parts and downtime at line terminals, and produces daily emergency vs. preventive reports plus end-of-shift summaries. Combined with PMC, the solution improved trend analysis, reduced costly repairs and emergency breakdowns, increased uptime, enabled parts sharing across plants, and is being rolled out to additional facilities.
