Celestial Seasonings, the largest specialty tea seller in the U.S., grew from hand-packed teas into a fully automated operation with multiple production lines running 24 hours a day. That scale created complex maintenance challenges: frequent component failures, long lead times for parts from Italy, constant uptime demands, and management-required daily/weekly/monthly reporting and tracking of labor and inventory.

To address this, maintenance planner Ken Palas implemented DPSI’s PMC CMMS to manage inventory, work orders, preventive maintenance schedules and reporting. PMC enabled predictive parts purchasing, weekend PMs during slow production windows, and detailed labor/parts visibility—resulting in fewer breakdowns, reduced parts costs over time, better planning and cleanliness, and a more efficient, measurable maintenance operation.
