A DPSI Case Study
BorgWarner’s Torque Transfer Systems plant in Seneca, SC—a 240,000 sq ft facility producing AWD/4WD components—moved from PMC to iMaint in 2004 to gain SQL Server capabilities and the iMaint Mobile option. The 36‑person maintenance team handled 1,500–1,800 work orders per month, needed to reduce overtime and lost or illegible work orders, and required reliable documentation to meet ISO/QS quality requirements while keeping the plant running 24/7.
Equipping each technician with a PDA, an integrated parts database and iMaint Mobile for assigned work orders, time reporting, inventory and procedures put job-critical information in the palm of the technicians’ hands. The result: doubled efficiency for mobile users, reduced repetitive data entry, an estimated five hours saved per person per week on parts lookup, stronger audit trails for ISO compliance, improved accuracy and measurable cost and productivity gains.
