A Doxel Case Study
Pennsylvania Chemicals, Shell’s massive U.S. construction project, needed a better way to track progress across four EPC contractors, 1,000+ equipment vendors, and thousands of workers on site. Traditional quantity surveying only verified a small portion of installed work, making it difficult to maintain a reliable view of schedule and performance. Doxel’s AI-powered project controls platform was brought in to provide objective progress data and a single view of installation status.
After an initial pilot, Doxel rolled out its platform to ingest mobile laser scans and other project data, comparing contractor-reported earned value with actual installed progress and near real-time IoT data such as torqueing and welding status. The result was near 100% coverage of modeled components, earlier detection of discrepancies, and faster mitigation of schedule risks on critical path items like cable trays and piping insulation. With Doxel, Pennsylvania Chemicals improved decision-making, reduced the risk of delays and overruns, and gained real-time visibility into site reality.
