The Oregon Zoo, a 64‑acre attraction in Portland with education programs that include summer camps serving about 3,000 youth plus year‑round classes and events, needed a more affordable, flexible registration system when its contract expired. Because it is a regional government service, the zoo ran a competitive RFP with 48 detailed requirements—everything from seamless website integration, real‑time availability and online/offline payments to group registration, searchable calendars, support for 1,000+ events and 15,000+ registrations, multiple financial accounts and comprehensive reporting—and sought a vendor with zoo experience.
After evaluating bids, the zoo selected Doubleknot for its feature set, zoo expertise and lower cost. The new platform lets families check availability, register, and complete waivers and health forms online; improves communications with custom event pages, confirmation emails and an integrated Communications Center; and provides the accounting team with the reporting they need. The zoo plans to add online field trip reservations and recommends Doubleknot to other zoos.
