The Kansas City Zoo, an AZA-accredited institution serving families and educators since 1909, needed a flexible, web-based sales and registration solution to support tickets, memberships, events, education programs, fundraising and facility rentals while integrating with its existing Gateway Galaxy ticketing and Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge donor systems. Their prior solution (Gateway’s eGalaxy) was not truly web-based, was hard to update, lacked online reservations and couldn’t meet the varied information and registration needs of different departments.
By deploying Doubleknot with Doubleknot Connect for Gateway and Raiser’s Edge the zoo unified ticketing, memberships, programs and donations into single online transactions, enabled features like online reservations, capacity and waitlist management, custom forms, promo codes and seamless syncing with existing systems. The payoff included nearly 30% of memberships purchased or renewed online in 2015, over $100,000 in additional donations driven by integrated donation prompts, more than 2,400 reservations managed, and markedly improved administrative flexibility and visitor convenience.
