Buffalo Bayou Park Cistern Manages Ticketing & Admissions for 50+ Weekly Tours

Buffalo Bayou Partnership turned a decommissioned 1926 reservoir into the Cistern, a unique public space hosting historical, photography and environmental-art tours with 50+ weekly tours and up to 2,000 visitors. Staff needed a ticketing solution to control capacity, sell tickets online and on-site, require visitor agreement to terms, support free-thursday reservations, scan and validate entry, and quickly adapt an ever-changing tour schedule.

They extended their existing Doubleknot system to the Cistern, using browser-based online sales with mandatory terms acceptance, print-at-home and mobile tickets, an iPad Sales Station with a secure card reader for on-site sales, and a check-in app to scan and validate admissions. The result: reliable, flexible ticketing that handles high weekly volume, real-time availability, easy calendar changes, and staff-confirmed success in shaping the process to meet the Cistern’s unique needs.
