Dotmatics Implements ‘Data to Value’ Initiative with BASF Agricultural Solutions

BASF’s Agricultural Solutions division faced growing complexity in its R&D data and needed a way to optimize the Design–Make–Test–Analyze (DMTA) workflow so scientists could find, use and trust their data. To address these challenges BASF partnered with Dotmatics on the “Data to Value” (D2V) program, adopting Dotmatics’ unified data-centric platform and specific tools including Dotmatics Vortex, Dotmatics Browser and Studies Notebook to support analytics, search/aggregation and electronic lab notebook (ELN) capture.

Dotmatics implemented a three-phased solution—data visualization with Vortex, enhanced search and aggregation via Browser on BASF’s data warehouse, and rollout of Studies Notebook as the ELN—bringing the full data lifecycle (planning, sample creation, testing and analysis) onto a single web-based platform. The result was markedly improved data visibility and accessibility (bench scientists can rapidly search experiments, lab leaders manage workflows more efficiently), faster, more performant web access, and better support for data-driven decisions and advanced analytics; Dotmatics’ platform also simplified updates and integrations via web delivery and APIs.
