DOSarrest restores Virgin Gaming's international gaming community
Virgin Gaming, a global console gaming community that runs tournaments and cash‑play on Virgingaming.com, suffered a massive, sophisticated DDoS attack on June 11, 2012 that targeted TCP port 80 and involved over a million IPs and traffic spikes to 3 Gbps, knocking the site offline. With their ISP forced to block HTTP/HTTPS ports, Virgin Gaming engaged DOSarrest Internet Security to restore access and protect their infrastructure.
DOSarrest Internet Security deployed its proxying/scrubbing service and DOSarrest Security Service panel; after rapid contract approval and payment the Virgin Gaming DNS was pointed to DOSarrest’s proxy servers and the site was back online in just over 20 minutes. DOSarrest’s scrubbing nodes filtered malicious traffic so only clean requests reach Virgin Gaming’s servers, preventing further destabilization, and the customer now benefits from real‑time visibility and expert 24/7 support.
