Margarete Steiff School - Customer Case Study

Margarete Steiff School in Stuttgart, which serves 150 children and teenagers with major physical disabilities, needed a high-traffic, barrier-free main entrance that would accommodate wheelchairs and walking frames while providing thermal insulation, anti-intruder protection and constructional fire separation. dormakaba was engaged to supply automatic sliding door systems for the new vestibule to meet these requirements.

dormakaba installed two automatic sliding door sets: an outer ST FLEX Secure (resistance class WK2/RC2 to DIN EN 1627) for burglary and vandalism protection and an inner ST FLEX Green with high thermal‑insulation (low UD) profiles and a thermal break, both with a 2.65 m clear passage, visual transparency and TS 93 cam‑action closers for fire separation. The solution allows 150 students and caregivers to enter daily with mobility aids, improves energy performance and security, and provides compliant fire barriers between the new and old building and between the foyer and classroom wings.
