Hillwood Development Company, a Perot company, needed a modern, convenient access solution for Bluestem Village in Fort Worth, Texas, a 322-unit multifamily property with shared amenities and communal spaces. The challenge was to provide secure, touchless access for residents, guests, and staff, while also supporting smart living apps and easy visitor management. dormakaba partnered with software provider Dwelo to address these needs using Saffire smart locks integrated into the Dwelo app.

dormakaba implemented Saffire LX Series smart locks, enabling residents to unlock doors with RFID fobs or key cards, as well as BLE mobile access keys, without extra software. The solution also simplified access management for maintenance teams and made it easy to retrofit touch-free access for both unit and common-area doors. The result was a more secure, user-friendly, and efficient access experience, helping Hillwood become one of the first in the area to offer smart home features, with residents able to unlock their doors from their phones.
