A dormakaba Case Study
Gwinnett Environmental & Heritage Center (GEHC) is a 59,000 sq ft public demonstration building in Buford, GA, that showcases water conservation and sustainable design and uses extensive glass for daylighting. The project required architectural hardware that complemented the glass, provided low visual impact, ADA-compliant operation, high-traffic durability and security, and supported the architect’s LEED-friendly design—needs addressed by dormakaba’s architectural hardware and door control solutions.
dormakaba supplied a coordinated package of products—including TS93 and 8900 door closers, BTS80 and RTS88 concealed closers, 9000 exit devices and 900 stops/holders—providing low-profile, reduced-effort opening, concealed hardware for minimal visual intrusion, and durable, reduced-projection touchbars. The finish strategy (satin stainless with clear powder coat to match satin nickel) kept costs down while preserving the modern look; the solution helped GEHC meet its performance and sustainability goals and contributed to the building earning LEED Gold certification (the first in Gwinnett County).
