Electronic Locking System Enhances Security and Provides New Amenity

Galloway Ridge, a non-profit continuing care retirement community serving more than 415 residents in Pittsboro, NC, needed to upgrade security, key control and audit capabilities during a Phase II expansion. To address those challenges they selected dormakaba’s RezShield access control solution to replace mechanical keys, improve audit trails and credential management, and integrate with their existing perimeter door system.

dormakaba implemented its .NET/web-based RezShield system with Kaba 79 Series RFID locks across 429 doors—including the 66 new Phase II units—starting in April 2011 and completing rollout in under a year. The installation eliminated periodic rekeying and many locksmith visits, enabled immediate deactivation and time‑restricted staff/vendor credentials, provided full audit trails, and improved ease-of-use and accessibility for residents, delivering measurable operational and security improvements for Galloway Ridge.
