ACME - Customer Case Study

ACME architects designed the Victoria Gate retail development in Leeds and faced the challenge of delivering a modern, high‑end shopping centre that also honoured historic arcade aesthetics. They needed discreet, elegant glass entrances with minimal visible framework, fast and reliable operation, high durability for heavy public use, and full accessibility. dormakaba was appointed to provide HSW‑R glass sliding shop front systems, ES 200 automatic sliding door entrances and MUNDUS patch fittings to meet these requirements.

dormakaba worked with main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine to install 150 HSW‑R panels across the arcade, using ITS96 concealed door closers and ceiling‑suspended double‑glazed tracks to eliminate floor guides for unobstructed wheelchair access. MUNDUS patch fittings accommodate door weights up to 200 kg with concealed fixings, delivering a robust, elegant finish. The result was a high‑performance, accessible entrance solution for the £165 million, ~42,000 m2 development, and the project was shortlisted for Major Building Project of the Year at the British Construction Industry Awards 2017.
