Ethereum distributes $250,000 DAI with dOrg

Ethereum Foundation faced the challenge of decentralizing its grant allocation process to more intelligently fund overlooked projects and individuals contributing to the Ethereum ecosystem, moving beyond traditional funding models that require predicting future impact. They hired the vendor dOrg to design and build a retroactive public goods funding (retroPGF) mechanism.

dOrg designed and developed the first round of DAO Drops, a system that distributed voting power to over 30,000 addresses based on their past on-chain activity. The dOrg-built solution successfully distributed $250,000 to 57 nominees, with 277 addresses participating in the vote. The median grant awarded was $3,056, effectively channeling funds to a diverse set of ecosystem contributors.
