How Westside Pizza Grew Sales with DoorDash Self-Delivery

Westside Pizza, a regional pizza chain with 36 locations, sought to expand its delivery sales through DoorDash while maintaining strict control over the quality and timeliness of its deliveries. Their challenge was to reach a new customer base via the popular app without relinquishing control of their in-house delivery standards, as they were concerned that using third-party drivers could compromise the customer experience with cold or late pizzas.

DoorDash's solution was the implementation of its Self-Delivery service. This allowed customers to order on the DoorDash app while Westside Pizza used its own drivers for fulfillment. The results were highly positive, leading to an 8-10% average monthly increase in orders and a 29% rise in the average order value. DoorDash helped the chain access a new segment of high-value customers, with one location seeing a 50% sales increase and netting $22,000 in a single month from the platform.
