Catalyst Housing Group and Latch Bring Affordable Living to the Bay Area

Catalyst Housing Group, a San Francisco–based developer focused on keeping housing affordable for essential workers, faced rising Bay Area rents and operating costs that left many residents paying an unsustainable share of their income. To reduce overhead without sacrificing resident experience, Catalyst partnered with DOOR to deploy DOOR’s smart access and smart-home platform, including intercoms, smart locks, and an enterprise management system.

DOOR installed its access and smart-home modules at Catalyst’s Aster (Dublin) and Arbors (Livermore) communities and integrated the enterprise management tools across the portfolio. After deploying DOOR’s solution at a recently acquired 313‑unit property, Catalyst was able to lower rents immediately due to decreased opex, while staff gained time- and cost-savings by remotely managing access, handling lockouts, and monitoring vacant units—improving operational efficiency and resident convenience.
