How to keep employees connected across geographical and cultural distance

Cloudbeds, a hotel management software company with more than 180 employees across 24 countries, needed a better way to keep its largely remote workforce connected and aligned. To support a true #RemoteFirst culture, the People and Culture team wanted a scalable way to help new hires feel welcomed and build relationships across time zones and locations.

Using Donut, Cloudbeds implemented a buddy-based onboarding program with volunteer ambassadors, plus ongoing #get_to_know Slack pairings to encourage cross-team connections. The result was an effortless, background process that helps new employees feel connected from day one and supports ongoing relationship-building across the company; 40 employees volunteered to be ambassadors right away, showing strong internal adoption and engagement.
