5 Tips for Staying Connected from Remote Salesforce Interns

Salesforce’s Summer 2020 engineering interns needed a way to stay connected and build meaningful professional relationships while working remotely during the pandemic. With fewer casual interactions, more communication barriers, and less opportunity to network in person, they turned to Donut to help recreate the social and collaborative aspects of the internship experience.

The interns launched a free Slack workspace and used Donut to organize networking through channels for onboarding questions, shared interests, and social connection, including a #watercooler channel and small-group meetups. Donut helped support ongoing cross-functional connections and knowledge sharing across the intern cohort, giving them a lasting community beyond the summer, though the case study does not provide quantitative impact metrics.
