Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of Canada is a volunteer‑based national non‑profit that raises awareness and funds medical research for Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The Calgary Chapter faced the challenge of launching an inaugural gala — the Black Gold Gala — to engage sponsors and sell tickets in a tough economy while creating a memorable, on‑theme event.

A volunteer committee led by Jennifer Wakeford secured a unique oil & gas museum venue, built a sponsor database and ran local advertising, and used Dojiggy to host event information and enable secure online ticket sales. The gala drew over 165 attendees and raised more than $70,000, marking a successful launch and strong momentum for future events.
