How Solera Holdings halved costs and automated 150 million claims with Google Cloud

Solera Holdings, a FinTech leader in automobile damage estimation, needed a better way to automate collision claims and reduce the time, cost, and manual effort involved in processing repairs. To tackle this challenge, Solera worked with DoiT International and Google Cloud technologies, including Google Kubernetes Engine, TensorFlow, Cloud GPUs, Cloud TPU, Vision APIs, Cloud Build, and Cloud Run, to build a scalable AI/ML-powered claims platform called Qapter.

With help from DoiT International, Solera launched Qapter to automatically identify vehicle damage, recognize vehicles, estimate repair costs, and streamline claims handling without human mediation. The solution auto-authorized 50% of damage claims in the first deployed markets and cut estimating costs by nearly half, while also reducing in-person interactions and speeding drivers back on the road.
