Wieland, a global German copper supplier with operations across the US and worldwide, set up a Digital Transformation Unit to modernize administrative and customer processes. The company struggled with paper-based agreement workflows—printing, scanning, emailing and manual storage—that created long wait times, high administrative effort and slowed sales, HR and procurement, a problem made more urgent by remote work during the pandemic.
Wieland implemented SAP Signature Management by DocuSign integrated with its SAP systems to digitize and automate contract flows, using templates, e-signatures and tracking across departments. The change cut turnaround from days to hours (65% of agreements completed in under one day and 37% within one hour), halved manual effort per agreement (from ~60 to 30–40 minutes), saved about 1,200 hours annually, and delivered faster, more transparent processes across legal, sales, finance, HR and procurement.
