University of Colorado Boulder, serving 31,000 students and 6,000 faculty and staff, faced a campus-wide, paper-heavy system of agreement that slowed services from admissions to HR and added hidden time and costs. The university launched a paperless campus initiative to digitize and forms-and-signature workflows and improve the student experience.
By deploying DocuSign and integrating it with Salesforce, OnBase, Drupal and other systems—starting with paper-heavy HR workflows—CU Boulder built self-service portals and automated routing, signing and archiving. The effort delivered major gains: $823K in annual cost reductions, 74% of document-based requests completed within one hour, 5,432 active users and over a million pages sent, with the majority of requests now processed within six hours.
