Star Building Systems Builds Greater Collaboration and Customer Service with DocuSign

Star Building Systems, a North American manufacturer of custom metal building systems, needed a way to securely apply professional seals and engineer signatures to drawings shared via its StarWeb portal. Engineers in three offices were printing, routing and overnight-shipping paper drawings—incurring time delays, customer pressure for faster submissions, and high costs (about $100 per overnight shipment and hundreds of paper signatures per day).

Star implemented DocuSign eSignature, integrated with AutoCAD/PDF workflows and StarWeb, using PKI-based security and state-compliance for electronic seals. Engineers can now sign and batch-seal drawings from anywhere and post authenticated PDFs to the portal, cutting turnaround from days to hours, improving collaboration and accuracy, delighting customers, and saving about $1,000 per engineer in mailing costs in the first year.
