The City of Memphis needed to modernize paper-heavy, multi-step workflows across departments—especially procurement—after COVID-19 forced more than 8,000 employees to work remotely. With contracts, renewals and approvals routing through multiple stops and no easy way to see status, the city faced slow, error-prone processes that delayed critical spending and services.
Memphis implemented DocuSign eSignature for its ease of use and fast rollout, piloting the solution before expanding it to 17 divisions. The result: procurement cycles that fell from months to about eight days (roughly 9x faster), mobile visibility into routing and approvals, broader adoption across HR and temporary staffing processes, and rapid payback (reported 4x quicker ROI).
