loanDepot, the second-largest non-bank lender in the U.S., wanted to make its highly personalized lending experience completely digital. Its existing portal required borrowers to print, sign, and fax or mail documents, so loanDepot set out to add eSignature and workflow routing to guide customers through every step of the loan process and coordinate borrowers, loan officers, underwriters and vendors.
loanDepot integrated the DocuSign eSignature API into a new customer portal alongside its LoanSphere Empower LOS, decoupling LOS complexity into discrete components and using DocuSign Templates to speed development. With only three weeks of eSignature development, the portal can break envelopes into multi‑part workflows, process more than 12,000 eSignature transactions per day, shorten loan closings by up to five days, and deliver a seamless end‑to‑end borrower experience — a solution later adopted for vendor and invoice signing as well.
