Brainlab, a global medical-technology company with about 600 employees in Germany and 500 worldwide sales and support staff, faced slow, paper-driven workflows that required signatures from staff across multiple countries (roughly one in ten signers outside Germany) while needing to comply with strict regulations such as FDA 21 CFR Part 11 and ISO 9001.

Brainlab deployed the DocuSign digital signature appliance and SAPI Web Services API to automate HR, R&D and quality workflows (PDFs, Word documents and CAD signoffs), eliminating printing/scanning and ensuring regulatory compliance. The change cut HR turnaround times by 90%, expanded active signers from ~400 to 500+, and produced more than 25,000 electronic signatures, with plans to roll the solution out across the entire organization.
